Here are the introduction of the childline charm bracelet.
The bracelet has been designed by Sarah Jordan and cast by Hockley Mint and will be the headline item in an online luxury Christmas gift auction to raise vital funds for the NSPCC’s Childline service.
In June the National Association (NAJ) launched a competition to offer UK designer the chance to have a charm included in the piece. The competition winners were Magnus & Bella and Dower & Hall.
The ‘Elder’ charm, by Magnus & Bella is hand-engraved and hand-carved in solid gold. In ancient English folklore, the elder tree symbolised guardianship and protection. The circle of leaves also suggests constant protection and a safe space, embodying the essence of Childline. In addition, the charm also features a diamond donated by Clark Diamonds of Birmingham.
The 18ct rose gold charm created by Dower & Hall is called ‘Wrapped in Love’ and has been designed to symbolise the caring work that the NSPCC does with vulnerable children. The roses speak of love and surround a pearl “with protection and warmth”; the pearl, donated by Raw Pearls, symbolises a child’s pure innocence.
Alongside the competition winning charms, the bracelet features charms donated by Alexis Dove, Clogau, Collette Waudby, Rachel Galley and Sarah Ho.
Lindsey Straughton, NAJ marketing manager comments: “We would like thank all the designers and everyone who has donated materials for this beautiful bracelet. We’re looking forward to showcasing it at IJL, where we’re sure it will be admired by visitors, before raising a tremendous sum for Childline.”
The final bracelet will be showcased at this year’s International Jewellery London on the NAJ stand prior to it being auctioned for charity.
